A Thousand Splendid Suns A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

My review

Rating: 5 of 5 stars

Like Hosseini's first book, A Thousand Splendid Suns is set in Afghanistan and covers several decades of history. It is the story of two women who have the misfortune to end up married to the same man. Theirs is a struggle to survive a life with a man who would rather they exist solely for him within the walls of their home in a country where women are literally bottom of the barrel of importance. It is astonishing and gut wrenching. Hosseini has proved that lightning can indeed strike the same place twice; I'll read anything this guy writes in the future.
